Study for the West of England Wine School WSET Level One

Woodchester Valley is the only vineyard with its own winery in the Cotswolds AONB. It was established in 2007 and currently has 45 acres under vine. It is family owned and run. It produces mainly white and sparkling wines. It has featured strongly in both UK and international awards. This is an exciting opportunity to play a role in the rapidly developing English wine industry.

We are looking for a sales executive to  develop and expand our on-trade and off-trade business in the Cotswolds and the metros of Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham, Gloucester and Oxford. Remuneration will be base salary and commission and commensurate with skills and experience. The candidate could be based anywhere in the region (e.g. Bristol), but some proximity to Stroud would be preferred. Regular attendance at the winery in Woodchester near Stroud will be necessary. Significant local travel in the Greater Cotswolds region is required. A full driving licence is required. The position is full  time.

The successful candidate will be self motivated, independent, performance motivated  and happy to work with a small team.The role requires effective negotiation and inter personal skills with a focus on delivering results. The successful candidate will work with the owners to develop a focused sales strategy.  This will require both initiative and determination and the ability to see and act on market opportunities. A working knowledge of standard marketing IT systems is required and expertise in more advanced IT areas such as social media and digital publishing would be useful. Working understanding  of and recent experience of trade sales in the drinks industry is essential. A knowledge of wine and/or a willingness to take relevant WSET qualifications would be useful. They will act as a brand ambassador being able to talk passionately and in depth about our portfolio of products. The ability to build and maintain relationships with a network of  trade customers and strong organisational skills, common sense and tact are essential.
