Please find attached the documents for the 2021 AGM to be held as a Zoom meeting on Monday 1st February.
I think most of us will be happy to forget 2020 for the significant changes that Covid-19 has made to our lives along with the less the structured final departure from the EU bringing us into 2021 with the outlook for health and business still uncertain.
Your Association has sought to carry on at least some of our operations with our Education Team of Lys Hall and Tim Johnson continuing to offer WSET levels 1 to 4 and they along with their students have to be congratulated for keeping calm and carrying on. Not only have they delivered courses they have also delivered high quality results and all should be congratulated for these achievements.
Our events for 2020 and even 2021 are currently on hold as we all need to stay safe in these challenging times.
We can only offer a virtual AGM this year along with an online social after the AGM so we can at least say hello.
We must also acknowledge the immense contribution of our President Christopher Fielden who has chosen to step down and hang up his wine educator hat. I have really appreciated his support and advice and I and the whole Committee wish him well and our thanks for his contribution to the West of England Wine and Spirits Association.
Our Committee will be looking for two new members, if you have time and experience to share please do get in touch. You will also by now have received your annual membership invoice, we recognise how touch it has been over the last 12 months so not only will the renewal not be increasing we will also be donating 50% of the renewal to The Drinks Trust to support those in our industry who need help at this time.
When the new normal arrives we will have a full range of events for you. Until then please follow the advice and stay safe.
2020 has been an unfortunate year due to the Corona Virus that swept our Country and the World virtually making us all stationary due to a National Lockdown. We have been very pleased that our Educators found ways of carrying on with their lectures but with far less Students. This will be explained by Lys and Tim, in their reports.
As you may have read by now there will be no Luncheon this year which means that we can’t raise our Annual fund raiser for the Benevolent.
My thanks go to Michele McLaren for her continued work in keeping the accounts etc up to date.
I did mention last year that we were looking for a person to attract for us New Members, however due to the Person catching a virus whilst on holiday to start off with and then the Corona Virus that stopped the country working, very little has materialised. We will keep trying.
I trust covers our minimalistic accounts for the year 2020 which everyone wishes never existed.
